40 percent of the people living in northern italia are actually southern italians

+omnipotentum For italian you mean southern italian, they are genetically identical to the greeks. I agree with you on that 100%, but italy goes from Sicily (North African latitude) to Trentino (Southern Germany latitude), and something like 40% of the people living in northern italy are actually southern italians, especially in places like milan or turin, Lombardy, Piedmont, and Emilia.



+Chiara Brunelli That's according to a study conducted by the University of Genoa and Pisa in 2009. And judging on my personal experience, I absolutely believe them. The percentage of southern italians in my classroom from middle school and high school has alway been at least 40% Southern Italians, and I used to live in a fairly small town. Unfortunately it is possible, but not everything is lost, in Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Trentino, the indigenous population still make up a significant percentage of the population.
