when federer is playing his game, nadal can't do anything

Theo, I thought Nadal came out with the right strategy and played a better than average performance (at least for him) as he found some angles on the ground strokes and generated free points on his serve. It's tough when Federer is just hitting all the spots on the serve and painting the lines for winners off not one but both wings. Once Federer committed to getting over the top and driving the backhand while stepping in, Nadal's left to contend with a lower bounce at the contact point which often leaves his forehand velocity diwn and landing short for Federer to really clean up on.

It's just hard to keep up with a great player when he's just executing every part of the game so seamlessly. Right now Federer is the best player on the tour and nobody else can lay a glove on him when he's feeling right. Today he was feeling maybe even better than right. The dude is just playing lights out more matches than not so far this season. There might have been nothing Rod Laver could have done today had he stepped out of a time machine from the 1960's at the rate Roger is converting.
